Claire graduated in 1991. She did a post doctoral stint at UC Davis. In 2000 she went to work for a biotech firm in the Woodland near Houston. In a recent note Claire says:
I was at UC Davis for postdoc fellowship and stayed on for several years as
a Research Biochemist. I was jointly appointed between Molecular and
Cellular Biology, and Ophthalmology. I was working on the molecular basis
of diseases of the eye. It was fascinating work, but after Tamara was born,
we decided that we wanted our kids to grow up knowing their grandparents.
So, we moved back to Texas in 2000. I've been working as a Scientist at
Lexicon Genetics, Inc, in The Woodlands, TX. since March, 2000. Lexicon is
a biopharmaceutical company interested in defining gene function for drug
discovery. Last April, our family grew from 3 to 4, as Frank Evan was born
on April 17, 2002. They are the apples of our eyes! Gary has his own law
firm here in The Woodlands.
Claire and Gary’s first baby is Tamara; here’s a photo of them. In 2002, they had a baby boy, Frank. Here is a photo of Tamara and Frank.
Claire and Gary sent a nice Holiday photo in December 2002 and here is the whole handsome family.
=======================
The whole Gelfman crew came to Austin in July 2003 and visited with Polly and I. It was wonderful to see them and get a chance to meet the kids. I was pleased to see how well they were doing. Claire has established herself at Lexicon Genetics and is doing very interesting and timely work dealing with mouse knock-out experimetns. Gary has his own law firm in the Woodlands and is thriving. Here are a few pictures I took. 1. Claire, Gary and Frank; 2. Claire and Frank; and 3. Gary and Tamara.
